Summer Prospect Watch: 2024 OTs

1.Will Campbell #66 LSU 6’6ft 325lbs (Junior)

– Former 4 star recruit who was ranked the nations 4th overall prospect by ESPN- 2022 Freshman All American & 2023 1st Team All SEC- Along with Will Emory Jones, both players came into LSU & have been immediate starters since day 1. Campbell at LT

– Smooth/quiet footwork coming out of his stance. Trusts his athleticism & ability to get to his mark without needing over exaggerate his kickslide, allowing him to remain centered & balanced

– Not a huge issues but he has an upright stance, wonder if that’s just how he’s comfortable or if there’s some hip stiffness getting his down in his stance

– Really strong hands and accurate hands. You see once he latches defenders are locked in & have a tough time loosening up his grip

– From watching his film you get the sense that he’s a student of the game with the use of different sets, different techniques with his hand usage & playing the game with them game & switching tendencies to keep pass rushers off balanced

– At times his lack of length will cause him some issues but it isn’t a big enough issue where I see him having to move on the inside. There’s a good level of footwork & understanding of angles with him where his lack of arm length isn’t a huge detriment to his game

– Going into the 2024 season, i’d to see if he’s developed a better anchor & added more strength to his to better handle bull rushers

Projection: Top 10 pick

2. Josh Conerly Jr #76 Oregon 6’4ft 305lbs (Junior)

– Former 5 star and number 3 ranked OT coming out of his class

– Played RB up until his sophomore season of HS before moving to the offensive line

– Was Oregon’s 6th offensive lineman in heavy packages during his freshman season & became the starting LT in his sophomore season

– Incredibly smart & aware player. Rarely gets fooled but blitzers or picking up stunts

– Really smooth footwork whether he’s working linear or having to move laterally

– Uses his length well to keep defenders from getting into his chest

– Very patient in his kickslide & stays square without getting over his feet in any way

– I would like to his punch get a bit stronger when engaging with defenders

– From time to time has some trouble anchoring against bullrushes

– Very fast hands when having to reposition or hand fighting

Projection: Top 15 pick

3. Kelvin Banks #78 Texas 6’4ft 324lbs (Junior)

– Former 5 star & the 4th best OT prospect in the country

– Has been a starter since stepping foot on campus as a freshman

– Has a good athletic base & tremendous strength but needs some major refinement. At this point he’s more a mauling road grader type

– Has to develop better technique with his hand usage & footwork. It isn’t terrible but you can see him lean towards being bigger & stronger than everyone else rather than leaning on his technique

– Banks has an incredibly high ceiling. Possibly to the best LT in this class if he can just be more consistent with his technique

Projection: Top 15 pick

4. Emery Jones #50 LSU 6’6ft 335lbs (Junior)

– Former 4 star recruit & 12th ranked prospect coming out of Louisiana – 2022 Freshman All American & 2023 2nd Team All SEC

– Along with Will Campbell, both players came into LSU & have been immediate starters since day 1. Jones at RT

– More of a power based player who looks to make contact first & use his aggressiveness

– Can be a bit frenetic with movement, causing him to get unbalanced

– Does a fantastic job setting his butt down & showing off his ankle flexion when anchoring down against bullrushes

– Very exaggerated with his kickslide which can sometimes put him at a disadvantage when defenders go inside & have him in recovery mode from the snap. Would like to see him get into his kick slide smoother & trust his athleticism more

– Has trouble redirecting & shifting his weight when trying to recover

– Can be a bit of a wait bender instead of staying square and trusting his length

Projection: Top 20 pick

5. Josh Simmons #71 Ohio St 6’5ft 310lbs (RS Junior)

– 4 star recruit who was the 14th ranked iOL in the country & had multiple offers from schools like Texas, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon & many more top schools in the country before choosing San Diego State- Played RT for the Aztecs in 2022 before transferring to Ohio st in 2023 & making the switch to LT

– Played RT for the Aztecs in 2022 before transferring to Ohio St in 2023 and making the swith over to LT.

– Might be the best tackle in this class when it comes to firing out of his stance

– Great movement skills & ability to maneuver with smoothness

– Has no problem getting out in space or pulling across the formation

– Still learning the tricks of the trade from a technical standpoint but all of the physical traits are there for him to develop into a good tackle

Projection: Mid 1st Round pick

6. Fernando Carmona #55 Arkansas 6’5ft 324lbs (rsJunior)

– All-Western Athletic Conference first baseman in 1985 & his brother was a long snapper for the UNLV football team in 2016

– Along with being a 3 star TE for his HS football team, Carmona played basketball & tennis in high school. Also Was the senior class president, vice-president of the junior class and a class representative his freshman and sophomore years at Las Vegas High

– After coming to San Jose St, Carmona made the move to the offensive line. Redshirting his 1st year, he started every game at LT during his red shirt freshman & sophomore seasons before deciding to transfer to Arkansas in 2024

– Really smooth footwork & athleticism. You can easily see his background as a TE with his movement skills

– Plays with a nasty temperament & relishes the violence to the game

– Needs to do a better job of being accurate with his punch & hand placement. That part of his game is lagging behind but at this point of his development, the arrow is pointing up as he continues to learn the position & get more reps

Projection: Late 1st Round Pick

7. Earnest Greene III #71 Georgia 6’4ft 320lbs (RS Sophomore)

– A former 4 star recruit who was the #2 interior offensive line prospect coming out of high school
– Started at left tackle for Georgia in his rsFreshman season in 2023. Earning 1st team all freshman SEC honors

– Has good grip strength when he latches on to defenders

– Displays the power to displace defenders from their gaps in the run game

– When defenders try to go through him straight up he shows a good anchor to minimize the rushers advances

– Looks sloppy and a bit lost when in space

– Moves more like a Guard than a Left tackle & OG may be his best position at the next level

Projection: Late 1st

8. Wyatt  Milum #74 West Virginia 6’6ft 317lbs (Senior)

– 4 star recruit & the 10th ranked OT in the 2021 class

– Started in 8 games at RT during his Freshman season before making the change to LT and being the starter there for the past 3 seasons

– Very good understanding of leverage & angles in the run game

– Showcases his linear athleticism coming out of his stance & firing off the ball in run game

– Can be a bit grabby & get his hands outside of defenders instead of keeping them inside

– Would like to see his hands/grip get better. He has good strength but the grip to sustain blocks can be very inconsistent

– In WVA’s run heavy offense, his exposures to pure passblock sets are few & far between. When he is asked to do it his footwork can be clunky & sloppy, making it difficult to deal with speed rushers

Projection: 3rd Round

– Shows adequate athleticism coming out of his stance & being able to redirect his weight when he has to

– Smooth/nimble footwork to hit is marks while also being able to keep his base strong

– The issues with length show up on tape where defenders are able to bench press him out. His home in the NFL might be on the interior

Projection: 4th Round

10. Jonah Savaiinaea #71 Arizona 6’5ft 330lbs (Junior)

– High school offensive guard. 3 star & the number 3 overall recruit coming out of Hawaii

– Started 12 games at RG in his freshman season & Right tackle during his Sophomore season

– Massive offensive lineman who possess good footwork for a player of his size

– Natural mauler who wants to win with size & power
